This descendant of Khalil Saleeby, dubbed the ‘father of Modern Lebanese art’ donated a priceless collection of Modern Lebanese paintings to the American University of Beirut in what is now the Rose and Shaheen Saleeby Museum, named after Dr Samir Saleeby’s parents.

From dealing with her country’s devastation during its Civil War to her subsequent move to New York with her young family, the works of Makki Bacho still manage to convey nostalgia and hope for Lebanon.
